"Melvin is sold out to the Nikon system (sorry Canon shooters). He shoots with Nikon D80 and Finepix S2 Pro dslr bodies. Mel loves using the 50mm f/1.8, and 80-200mm f/2.8D most. He also has a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, and a Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Macro. For lights, he has two 500W/s studio strobes, but prefers to carry an SB800 Speedlight "because it's not as heavy". He packs all these equipment in a lovely Crumpler 'Karachi Outpost' backpack. He has other nice stuff too, but just doesn't want to tell you."

Some friends are worth their weight in gold. Just being with them makes a big difference in one's day. A gentle word, a small encouragement, an understanding ear. Wisdom from a genuine friend is like rain to a thirsty plant. A friend is a friend is a friend. Indeed!

A friend is refreshing. I hope in some small way, I can be likewise to my friends too.

Spent the Merdeka (independence) holiday shooting an event in GCC. There was a carnival atmosphere surrounding the I Love Malaysia Day. Spent the morning recording the event for posterity. I am also thankful for the presence of 4 other photographers, gives a secure feeling of having something really covered.

It was also a good time to get acquainted with my new (well, almost new) 80-200mm f/2.8 lens. I'm still not used to the working distance required to use this lens well. Later in the afternoon I spent some time with my good friend Louis Pang, and I mentioned the fact that I'm still trying to tame it. Got a few pointers from him. He should know, being a pro photographer he is. And he was the previous owner, having sold it to me at a really, really low price (thanks bro).
