Gear

"Melvin is sold out to the Nikon system (sorry Canon shooters). He shoots with Nikon D80 and Finepix S2 Pro dslr bodies. Mel loves using the 50mm f/1.8, and 80-200mm f/2.8D most. He also has a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, and a Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Macro. For lights, he has two 500W/s studio strobes, but prefers to carry an SB800 Speedlight "because it's not as heavy". He packs all these equipment in a lovely Crumpler 'Karachi Outpost' backpack. He has other nice stuff too, but just doesn't want to tell you."

Joyceline and Edwin's Wedding

& 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 ~ available light

Congratulations to Joyceline and Edwin on their wedding last Saturday. It was a beautiful wedding, an event that will live long in the memories of all who witnessed it. It was an awesome privilege to photograph their wedding! My first ever wedding photo shoot, and I am humbled by the trust and faith this couple have on my abilities. Thanks again Joyceline and Edwin! Oh btw, I'll be putting the wedding album online in a few days time.

On a side note, I now have a greater appreciation for the work of professional wedding photographers like Louis Pang. They make it look so easy, and from first hand experience, I know it's NOT. :o)

Consider the Lilies Monday, November 13, 2006 |

Tiger Lily. Planted by my mum, sitting pretty on the driveway.
Nikon D80, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro.
Shot in available light, hand held.

You never see a beautiful plant struggle to look pretty. Trees do no sweat blood to produce fruit. Grass don't struggle to grow. They just are. As God created them. Jesus said that "Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." By these, he meant lilies. "Consider... how they grow. They neither toil nor spin." No struggling, no striving, no queue jumping, no office politicking, no over-timing... just being.

Consider the lilies. And enjoy being the person God created you to be.
